Bug Description

When you have an app running which has multiple windows, clicking on that app in the launcher is supposed to display small snapshots of those app windows for your selection.

In an up to date (as of 20 Sept) Oneiric beta, doing that results in

(a) the snapshot images being displayed upside down
(b) when you are using multiple monitors, the snapshot images are displayed in between the two monitors (i.e., in the center of the combined space, rather than in the center of one monitor).

Expected behaviour?
- that the images are displayed the right way up
- that the images are displayed in some usable place, e.g,. the center of one or the other of the monitors (probably should be the one with the launcher, since that's where you just invoked the command. But there may be an argument for it being on the one that is going to display the windows when selected - although that is a problem if the windows are on separate screens).

I have never seen this before, and it could be an indication of a broken driver. Could you post a screenshot of this so I know exactly what you mean?

Do windows maximize over the two monitors as well? Usually the only case where this will ever happen is where compiz detects one single monitor, and that would only ever happen if X was telling us that there was only one physical monitor

Could you post either your:

 1) xrandr --verbose if you are using the intel, radeon or nouveau driver or
 2) nvidia-settings -q all if you are using the proprietary driver

That will tell us what your driver thinks the screen layout is and then we can narrow this down from there.

@Jane,

Could you please do an:

apport-collect 854670

This will allow me to rule out the video driver.

Thanks

Hey Jane,

I think this one should be fixed in precise with the newer compiz we released in it. Do you confirm you still have this issue? (can't reproduce it here anymore).

Hello,
as part of the bug clean up ahead of 16.04 LTS I'm marking this as invalid because it affects an Ubuntu release which is now unsupported. If you can still recreate this bug in a supported release please do open a new bug and we can triage it for consideration in the 16.04 LTS development cycle.
