Bug Description

Upgraded a 11.04 system to 11.10 Beta 1. In 11.04 I was using classic gnome 2, not unity. After upgrading, when I maximize a window, global menu and the Close/Minimize/Restore buttons are in the top panel, as they should be. But directly under that is the top window bar/title bar, with again Close/Minimise/Restore buttons. The Dash covers the top window bar when it appears.
I tried to change window decorations in to !state=maxvert in CCSM as described here: http://www.webupd8.org/2009/11/gain-space-by-removing-maximized.html but this didn't work. Installing Maximus and putting it in the startup routine seems to work, but as I understand it, Unity should be able to do without it now.
Deleting .local, .config and .gconf and .gnome2 didn't work.
Oddly, this behavior even appears when I made a new user, so I suspect it is not "only" a config file.

This doesn't affect me and I upgraded to beta, but it's probably because you changed some configuration while using 11.04, as you noticed.

@ David Gomes.

I downloaded the beta 1 of 11.10 and installed it on VMware. And yes, there are double title bars of a maximized application.

Is very true in my install, therefore this must be a bug.

I think also this is not a duplicate bug report.

Hello.

I think that this bug was caused by VMware tools-modules not being installed and loaded. I tried the Unity 2D and the problem was gone.

@John Jaarsveld:

I think you need to make sure that the proper graphic drivers are installed on your system.

The updates I received yesterday resolved the issue for me.
