Visible tearing at pixel column where Launcher would be

This happens in many applications, the easiest to reproduce is under Firefox;

  1. Load Firefox
  2. Maximise Firefox (Launcher will hide if not already hidden)
  3. Open a tall page in Firefox (eg. http://lwn.net/daily )
  4. Scroll the page vertically

What happens:

  5. There is a visible tearing a where the right-hand edge of the Launcher would be if it had not been hidden.

What should happen:

  6. Ideally a hidden Launcher should not cause glitches in application windows that it is (not) covering.
