Bug Description

Ubuntu 11.04 - the Natty Narwhal

1:3.3.2-1ubuntu5 (libreoffice-writer)

I expect to be able to empty and/or open the trash in order to retrieve unintentionally deleted files. Trashbasket icon is on panel.
Instead, system locks up for 30/60 seconds and yields the error message: Libre Office 3.3 /trash: does not exist. (It DOES exist and 16 files are in it.)

Thank you. I hope I've reported this correctly. Please excuse me if not. Kevin Loiselle

Sounds like you've got some messed up configs or something. Can you try logging in with a guest session and accessing the trash again? As for Unity not appearing, your hardware might not support it - can you raise a separate bug please?

summary: - LibreOffice pops up when I try to open Trash, stating that it does not
- exist. I can't empty or retrieve. Also... my natty upgrade never came up
- looking like the Unity desktops I see everywhere; disappointing. Thanks
- though.

Thank you for your patience Brendan.
I created a new user account 'guest' and password. When I log in under this account both the Unity desktop AND the Trash bin appear. But... there is NOTHING in the trash bin.
I will raise a separate bug on Unity not appearing if you think it's necessary, based on your reply. I don't understand WHY any of this sort of stuff happens when I upgrade every 6 months. Perhaps I just don't know how to answer the questions ('... keep or discard...' that sort of thing) that come up during the install. Maybe this is where the problem lies. But.. I didn't notice the Trash bin wasn't working for several months, until I decided to do some serious housekeeping.

closed since you resolved the issue by creating a new user account and we are not sure where the problem lies.
