2011-12-06 20:29:19 Mikkel Kamstrup Erlandsen description on unity 11.04,11.10 seraching for "game", "internet" or such generic keywords in the lenses does not show all relevant applications.. this is a showstopper bug for me and other people i talked to i understand the difficulty of insuffiecient metadata for applications but escpecially for newbys and "non-geek"s this is at least a big MUST. You DO have descriptions and categories in software center.. can't these info be used in the lens too? on unity 11.04,11.10 seraching for "game", "internet" or such generic keywords in the lenses does not show all relevant applications.. this is a showstopper bug for me and other people i talked to i understand the difficulty of insuffiecient metadata for applications but escpecially for newbys and "non-geek"s this is at least a big MUST. You DO have descriptions and categories in software center.. can't these info be used in the lens too? Desired solution: Stick to the X-GNOME-Keywords field in the .desktop files, but improve the indexed data. - Minimally: Assure that key apps have good keywords in their packages - Best: Get the word out to have upstreams put good data in there. Help upstreams getting this done.

Help upstreams getting this done. Also: 12:51:48 <Trevinho> what about not only considering the Keywords .desktop file field (that is alredy supported, for applications that specify it) but also the category of each application? 12:52:23 <Trevinho> I mean, if I search for "internet" or "games", I expect that all the programs under that category are shown into the dash, isn't it? 12:53:39 <Trevinho> Of course, programs that have full matching (ie. name contains that string) would get the priority, but if I search for "System" I expect that all the applications under "System" category are shown, not only System Monitor for example... 13:21:02 <JohnLea> yes considering the category of the application would be an improvement
