"Unity hangs after closing lid of laptop"

when the laptop lid is closed,and open again the GUI does not respond to any keystrokes and mouse events.The whole GUI hangs up.This does not happen all the time but occur most of the time.

Hi, thanks for reporting this bug.

Could you check what the behavior is when you close your lid? you can find that in the power management application.
Could you also check which parts of the GUI are not responding? - ie: is it the unity interface or everything

Also to improve this bug report and get more detail added, could you run "apport-collect 785468" - which will gather more information and add it to this bug report.

I'm experiencing the same bug. In power management, the close lid behaviour is set to "blank screen".

Update: disabling "Sync to VBlank" in compiz's OpenGL settings (as described here: http://www.multimediaboom.com/fix-screen-freezes-after-closing-the-lid-in-ubuntu-11-04/) seems to fix this problem.
