Bug Description

If I start an app on a workspace 2, 3 or 4 and 'snap' it to the right half of the screen I cant switch to it from workspace 1.

I noticed when snapping that app is over the limits of the workspace so maybe that's the problem. When snapping to the left or maximized it works.

to reproduce:

1 go to workspace 2 start some app and place(snap) it to the right side of the screen
2 go to workspace 1 and try clicking on that app in a unity dock

I tried this with 2 different computers and several apps.

I added a screenshot of workspaces where it can be seen how the app on the workspace 4 is stretched to workspace 2 although I only snapped it to right on workspace4. If I go to workspace 1 I cant switch to it by clicking on a dock icon.

The same problem if you snap your app to the left in workspaces 3 and 4.

I have this problem too. I think it's a window-moving issue.

Example: I have Gwibber snapped to right hand side of lower right workspace and firefox maximized in upper right workspace. I'm currently on the firefox workspace. I click on Gwibber on the icon, and focus does not snap to Gwibber. But something strange that does happen: The location of the Gwibber window moves down the height of the title bar (or whatever the unity terminology for it is). This means it's now mostly in the lower right workspace, but partially in the upper right workspace (due to wrapping). So if I'm in the upper right workspace and click on the Gwibber icon (or use the super shortcut key :-) nothing appears to happen. But if I unmaximize firefox and do it, then focus switches to Gwibber - but just the final bit that's overlapping onto that workspace.

Just checked and actually I don't have this issue anymore. Only in certain window positions.

I have it on an up-to-date 11.04 but not with unity-shell from trunk (on oneiric).

The issue is fixed in Oneiric as toineo said and cannot reproduce the problem as well. The issue was a compiz one I believe.

+1 experiencing this bug. A workaround can be a configuration in ccsm to fixed window positions on the apps usually placed on another workspace.
