Bug Description

Binary package hint: unity

Hello,

It seems that the application categories in Unity are hard-coded, for example, when I installed extra-xdg-menus, I don't see the Electronics menu category (although I got packages that use it, such as geda & pcb).

I am thinking along the lines of dconf key/flat files to add custom category which user can add to filter. This would allow kiosk/corporate users to add their listing such as "mydomain" to filter in unity-lens-application. any thoughts ?

Given that listing all categories would be painful, and may break the appearance.
