Bug Description

Dash should imo not display every single "System settings" items between applications, because it looks very messy and unpolished... System settings are available through shortcut in indicator session menu which launch gnome control center and this approach should be enough.

In Oneiric, we will try adding the settings as a link in the launcher
early on for user testing.

Some news about this?

yes, System Setting is into launcher, into indicator and into Application lense as well.
More, it's a beauty to use. No reason to clutter Application lense with additional ~20 icons.
In Oneiric it's a wall of icons where you loose yourself into.

Pangolin must have a neat (usable) Application lense.

It is not enough that System Settings is placed in the Launcher, though it is handy. The OT's suggestion should be implemented; other settings just as Monitors, Mouse and Touchpad, etc should be hidden in the Dash, despite being individual applications. The current situation makes finding settings very confusing ("I want to change my screen resolution; I could go to Monitors, but this one says System Settings! What do I do?") as well as crowded. Search strings such as "resolution", "monitors", etc (which previously pointed to the relevant application) should all point to System Settings as well

Having the system settings available via the Dash search interface, and also via the indicators is not mutually exclusive. Different individuals have different workflows, and if this feature was removed there would be an avalanche of requests to add it back in. Also this functionality has not proved problematic in any of the user testing that we have conducted.
