Bug Description

The bfb dash lists search results in such a way that results from the Files place come at the top and those from the Applications place come below it. This approach has two disadvantages:

1) The files results take some time to come up. But the applications results load quicker. So the application icons get rendered first. If I click one application icon before the files icons get rendered, and the files icons get rendered milliseconds before the click at the same place (pushing the application results below it), I end up clicking a file instead. This happens to me daily.

2) I am not sure about the case of other users, but atleast in my case I use the dash mainly to launch applications rather than files. So the Application results should be near the search box, hence facilitating keyboard navigation and mouse movements.

I just tried this but in my case applications are shown in the first section
and files in the second.

Is there some user configuration value about this? The attached is my screenshot, while it appears the case is opposite with Omer.

There's also a workflow improvement to be had by fixing this bug.

super -> type app name -> tab -> enter -> desired app opens

I think we need to review this behaviour carefully in Oneiric.

If you have a perfect match app, then yes, I agree. If you have a
partial match app, but a great match file, then I don't. I think the
user will expect a "give me what I want" story, not a "Files before
Apps" or the other way around story.

Hi Neil,

If you haven't begun work on this one, can I step up and fix this one? Thanks!
