Bug Description

When using classic GNOME with Compiz, I expect to be able to navigate to the session menu as well as other indicators by pressing Super + S. However, this is no longer possible, due to a recent change in compiz-plugins-main to use Super+S for the expo plugin.

Either the keybinding for the compiz plugin is re-assessed, or we change the keybinding for accessing the indicators in indicator-applet-complete with the keyboard.

 affects ubuntu/compiz-plugins-main

 affects ubuntu/indicator-applet

 affects indicator-applet

Is the <Super>+S binding based on any other pseudo-industry standard (eg. use by other operating systems), or was it a random pick?

I think Super + S was chosen because it meant S for Session menu, as the session menu is what opens when Super + S is pressed with either indicator-applet-session or indicator-applet-complete loaded into the panel.

This bug is present in 10.04 LTS. Because 10.04 (desktop) will be maintained for another two years, please fix this bug. It is very frustrating.

Could a core-dev nominate the indicator-applet task to Lucid? I wasn't able to do so, it seemed to generate an OOPS.

The problem would be solved if bug 554713 were solved and it would be possible to change the Super + S shortcut, however it would not solve the conflict in default ocnfiguration.

However, this does not affect unity as ALT+F10 is used to access indicator (and shortcuts to individual indicators are not supported), but it affects gnome-fallback with Compiz.
