This crash has the same stack trace characteristics as bug #711105. However, the latter was already fixed in an earlier package version than the one in this report. This might be a regression or because the problem is in a dependent package.

I updated on 26th Feb and saw the error then. I also had the error appear yesterday (the 2nd) logging out and back in resolved it. Sorry to be a noob - if I run sudo apt-get update then sudo apt-get upgrade I should have the newest version... yes? My machine is at home so I'll test tonight.

You can check the version via apt-cache policy unity.
It will show you the version you have, as well as any newer available versions.

there was an update which i applied and after 4 reboot cycles it hasn't come back so I guess it's fixed for me. Thanks!
