Allow location of the launcher to be customizable

Hi,

Would it be possible to have the location of the dock customisable, for example similar to the windows xp task bar or os x dock, where you can have it on either top, bottom, left or right side of the screen.

I imagine this could be possible by either making it possible to 'lock' the bar in place or maybe having it so that if you press a certain key combination like ctrl+alt and hold down the left mouse button on the dock will be moveable.

Why set as new again? Isn't it an opinion?

My problem was that after setting the status to opinion the bug dropped off all the main lists, which was strange because on this page:

is various feature requests, set to wishlist and various levels of importance, so I looked up opinion and found this:

http://blog.launchpad.net/bug-tracking/new-bugs-status-opinion

Opinion says: there’s a difference of opinion around this bug and people are free to continue the discussion, but the project or package maintainers need to move to other work and are considering the issue closed.

So it seemed like immediately after opening this feature request and the other one it was closed without anyone ever looking at it.

It may not matter because of this bug here:

Which seems similar to what many people are requesting, which is the ability to customise unity and the launcher.

The location of the launcher is by design tied to the panel button
