Bug Description

Video Out hotkeys on next-generation laptops are now sending Super (Windows) + P

Unity should handle these cases without triggering Unity-level functions unrelated to the video out.

This relates to this bug (which is being fixed upstream to support Super (Windows) + P):
https://bugs.launchpad.net/oem-priority/+bug/539477

Jerone has a video here to demonstrate:

So I understand, Mutter should invoke a particular command when SUPER + P + ENTER is detected.
Setting to medium for now, as there is an OEM side to this issue.

Jason: can you check if that's a configuration parameter, or if that would require code support.
If it requires code, this needs to be addressed preferably prior to the release, whereas parameters can be delivered on a per system basis.

Mark/Jerone, I'm not sure I understand what Unity should be doing here, is it not passing on those key presses or is it not launching the correct application?

I guess that should map to whatever we do to trigger a video device /
display detection and configuration round.

Thanks Mark. I also spoke to Chris Coulson, and it seems the code to handle cycling the video modes is in Gnome Settings Daemon, and we do block that from being invoked by grabbing the Super key for Unity functions.

It seems the best way forward would be to expose a method on g-s-d's D-Bus interface so Unity could safely drive the video mode cycling and we don't need to maintain the cycling code in two places. I'll try and look into this once I'm done with higher-priority bugs.
