Bug Description
Searching in the HUD doesn't bring up the programnames, e.g. firefox or thunderbird.
The programs are installed and can be launched via the installed classicmenu indicator.
It was working correctly, but I had some troubles with the installation of fglrx* and had to install the graphic cards driver manually. Since then the problem occurs.

I think this isn't a bug since you said you misconfigured your system by installing fglrx. The bug report should be converted to a question so that it will appear in the Launchpad answer tracker and can be answered there.
Try reinstaling the default drivers and installing fglrx again.
