unity dash doesn't update if files are access through dash by some applications

The dash doesn't record activities of many applications

For example, if a pdf file is opened by evince, it will be recorded on the dash, later if click the file in dash, evince will open it and this activity will be updated (file appears on the top of the list) Now set qpdfview as the default for pdf files. Click a document in Nautilus, file opens and is recorded in the dash. Later open the dash, click same document, file opens in qpdfview, but this activity is not recorded, the document doesn't get moved to the top of the list like evince.

Same thing with say, replacing default video playe (totem) with mpv or vlc, if click a video file from the dash it will open in mpv (or vlc) but the file's position is not being updated in the dash.
