Bug Description

When I start a unity 7 session in utopic, the system switches to my previously defined configuration for external monitors, then stops accepting input. I can move the mouse across both displays, but I cannot click on anything, and keyboard shortcuts don't seem to bring up anything either. Sometimes the cursor changes to the hand or the arrow for resizing a window, and sometimes if I click I get the spinning cursor.

Same happened with me after upgrade to 14.10. I've tried this (with no success):

 * Logging in as a guest user
 * Uninstalling nvidia driver (using noveau instead).
 * Using GDM instead of lightdm

I tried using xfce, and that worked, but crashed a lot. I created a
different user, and that seems to work. Removing most of my .files in the
home directory on my original user didn't seem to help.
