Bug Description

New lock screen is awesome. Unfortunately, for me, whenever I resume,
I get a blank screen. I can switch VTs but switching to a text VT and
back to X doesn't help. If I unplug and/or re-plug my external
display, I'll sometimes get a black screen with a mouse, sometimes a
lock screen that doesn't appear to be accepting keyboard input.

This has happened twice now, running current trusty and I've ended up
rebooting each time.

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity/+bug/1292217 may or may not be related; but simply allowing the screen to timeout lock is not sufficient for me to reproduce, nor is plugging/unplugging an external display. Suspend/resume seems to be the trigger.

Thanks James. What videodriver are you using? When that happens could you go to a vt and get a gdb backtrace of the compiz process, that might give an indication on whether it's stucked in some codepath.

I have more or less the same problem, and create a new bug few days ago..

FWIW, I can no longer reproduce this behaviour. I've survived several days of suspend/resume cycles while using an external display. Instead I'm seeing the double lock behaviour (unity + gnome screensaver).
