no wallpaper (black background) or wallpaper with lightdm marks on login

Bug Description

uptodate 13.04, problem exists for longer time now

when login from lightdm it should load the users wallpaper.

instead it sometimes doesnt load the wallpaper (black background) or stays the same background as in lightdm (users wallpaper with a ubuntu logo centered and "ubuntu 13.04" in the bottom left corner")

I have found a workaround to fix this issue, anyway it needs real fix.
Just turn ON desktop icons. Using some of tools like Unity tweak tool, Unsettings, Ubuntu tweak etc and turn on "show desktop icons" in desktop section. It works instantly, but the problem is back as soon as you turn off desktop icons.

setting desktop icons to on (i think that leads nautilus to handle the desktop) does correct that issue here too

Same here, on Ubuntu 13.10. Also, changing the wallpaper settings in gnome-controll-center takes no effect.

Enabling the desktop icons indeed resolves the issue, but I dislike such ugly desktop.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug. We have tried to recreate this on the latest release of Ubuntu and cannot reproduce it. This bug is being marked as Invalid. If you believe the problem to still exist in the latest version of Ubuntu please comment on why that is the case and change the bug status to NEW.
