Compiz/Unity is crashing when previewing an item with the smart scopes PPA. This is what I am doing:
1. Open the dash.
2. Search for 'Severed Fifth' in the home lens.
3. Wait for the Code items to appear and right-click the 'Severed Fifth Fan App'.
4. You should see the spinner and then it will stop spinning and Unity has hung.
When I did this the last time I got a gdb backtrace:
