Bug Description

In Raring, the launcher fails to reveal with mouse mouvement.
Settings are set to 32 pixels wide launcher, and sensitivity slightly above default.

This does not happen always, but quite often. I could not define the exact scenario that triggers the problem...

Hitting the Super button makes the launcher appear. Once it has appeared, it will show again on mouse move to the left, until... this happens again.

Here's a way to make the launcher reveal again:

If you're on the desktop and the launcher is not revealing by moving the mouse to the left side, just single-left-click on some file on the desktop (selecting it), then single-left-clicking some empty space on the desktop (unselecting the file). Now the launcher is revealing again.
Probably this helps debugging....

In case this helps for debugging:

If then launcher won't reveal, it helps to move the mouse cursor to away from the left screen side and wait 1 or 2 seconds. Afterwards the launcher reveals properly again if I move the mouse to the left screen side.

Solved with Compiz Editor > Desktop > Ubuntu Unity Plugin > Launcher tab:

- Launcher Reveal Edge Responsiveness: 8,0000
- Launcher Reveal Pressure: 1

Is extreme, yes. Worked fine until arrived 13.04

Note: I use Top Left Corner Reveal Trigger.

I have the same problem.

I tried on 3 different machines and the bug exist on all of them.
And it happens quite often, so it's really annoying.

I can't wait for a fix, so annoying when you have to use 'Super' key to reveal launcher. I don't need all this fancy lenes, I need Unity to just work...

Problem (still) exists for me. Tried all the workarounds stated above. I used Compiz to max out Launcher Reveal Edge Responsiveness to 8.00000 and Launcher Reveal Pressure to 1, select single click and single click desktop, waiting 1 or 2 seconds. I also tried to max out mouse pointer speed via settings which was suggested elsewhere but strangely the setting always resets to default. Some of these measures work for a little while but nothing is consistent. My workaround is to have hotcorners activated with show workspaces, when workspaces reveal the launcher also pops up then I touch the corner again to get rid of the workspaces and launcher stays revealed. This system has AMD/ATI video card (not Nvidia)

I'm having the same problem. I tried to "reset" the launcher by disabling autohide then re-enabling it, but it didn't help. Only thing that works for me is hitting the "Super" key which my Dell mistakenly labled with the Windows logo.
