Using HUD results in Window losing focus

(This looks like the problem from bug 921249, but I cannot re-open that...)

In some applications, using the HUD results in the window that had focus losing it. It does not happen in every application, but it happens consistently in Gummi, both in 12.04 and 12.10.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Install Gummi: https://apps.ubuntu.com/cat/applications/gummi/
2. Run Gummi.
3. Press Alt.
4. Type "new".
5. Press Enter when File > New is selected.
6. Observe that the Gummi window no longer has focus.

Crap, of course after reporting it, it seems it does not happen consistently after all. Try it a few times, re-opening Gummi.

This happens to me, all the time, still. With various windows (and I've never run Gummi). I can't see any pattern in when it happens. It only seems like "sometimes" to me.

Andrea Azzarone marked this as a duplicate of bug 1100962. However, that bug has been closed and marked Fix Released, while this happened in a release. Therefore, please only mark this a duplicate if you can also reopen another bug.

I see a very similar thing while using Sublime Text. This issue is really a productivity killer in so many cases.

Vincent, In that bug report fix released is for Raring. We are going to get that fixed in 12.10 soon. Remarking as duplicate.

Ah, really? My apologies then, let's hope time moves faster so I can update to Raring. (I thought Fix Released meant that it had to be in a stable release.)
