Bug Description

This problem appeared after upgrading to Ubuntu 12.10.
Steps to reproduce:
 - Open a video in Totem or in VLC
 - Activate the dash
The part of the dash which overlaps the video is flickering (repeatedly becoming fully transparent for a fraction of a second). It doesn't matter whether the video is playing or paused. The problem remains even when the video window is hidden behind other windows.

I think the fix for bug 1070735 might solve this. Please wait and test that when it's released.

The aforementioned potential fix is in Unity 6.12. Please try that (when it's available).

Sorry folks, but as part of the bug clean up ahead of 16.04 I'm marking this as invalid because it affects an Ubuntu release which is now unsupported. If you can still recreate this bug in a supported release please do open a new bug and we can triage it for consideration in the 16.04 development cycle.
