Bug Description

It will be easier to run some games with wine and unity. In some cases - virtual desktop emulation doesn't helps(for example Battlefield 2142 - wine creates virtual desktop and after few seconds it automatically fails to normal window with panel and launcher visible).
It affects mainly games.

This is a problem with Compiz, not Unity. and this happens when reverting to a resolution less than your current one...the most common ones are 640x480, 1024x768, and 800x600. This DOES NOT happen with Unity 2D (because it doesn't use Compiz). This also happens with native games as well. So it's not a problem with wine.

a workaround is to switch to the resolution of your game BEFORE you run it..:)

p.s I really hope this gets fixed..it's been an issue for a while now.

I'm not sure if this is a complete duplicate. From the looks of it the other bug has been fixed and is related to fullscreen apps like firefox.."which works fine" but anything that changes resolution "example: Game switches resoultion for 1280x720 to 800x600" the unity and the panel show. I've uploaded a picture of Halo running to demonstrate it...ignore the fact that the game isn't rendered properly. I do not have S3TC enabled, and I'm not sure if halo even runs on older intel hardware (on ubuntu).

I managed to take a better snapshot of the situation. This might be a little bit easier to understand.
