I think this bug (and1310056, dup of this bug) should not be closed as wont-fix, it should be reopened and reassigned to whatever software component (Unity, presumably) is making this behavior change impossible.

It's absolutely shameful that the Linux desktop has been consistently and brutally dumbed down over the last 10+ years, that charge led primarily by the gnome developers.
