Show Desktop icon placement on Launcher

Unity Tweak Tool

Bug Description

Unity Tweak Tool provides a nice way of adding "Show Desktop" on the Launcher, and it is placed at the bottom of the other icons there. But it seems it has a fixed position between "Running Apps" and "Devices", and jumps back to this position even if the user drags it above "Running Apps", i.e. at the bottom of all the icons "Locked to Launcher". Changing the position of "unity://desktop-icon" in dconf editor also fails to solve this issue.

Thanks, but I've marked it as won't fix as this would be an upstream Unity bug not a bug of or a configuration fixable by Unity Tweak Tool.

Changed in unity-tweak-tool:
status: New → Won't Fix

And to add up to the Won't Fix status - I am running 12.10 and I can place that icon everywhere I want. Perhaps this is limitation of your Unity version.

Isn't this what happens if there's a bug? It affects some machines/configurations and not others. It's more difficult to identify it than to resolve it. I use Ubuntu 12.10 64-bit with the latest updates including Unity. I don't encounter any noticeable problems with any other software; I have a very good and stable configuration. And I didn't have such a problem when used this method:
I've just reported this so as to hopefully make a small contribution to your efforts to improve this good software by possibly spotting and correcting a bug (if it really is a bug, of course ;-)
I preferred your method because it also allows restoring all windows when you click it again whereas the other one cannot do it although it doesn't have such a placement problem on my machine.
Isn't there any other information I can provide to help identify the cause of this problem?

Perhaps you might like to know; its location becomes permanent ONLY when it's not at the very end of other launchers, but as soon as it's placed back at that position, "Running Apps" again are displayed above it, and not under.
I couldn't change this strange behavior no matter what I tried, so I gave up and switched back to the method mentioned above. Actually it also has exactly the same functionality except you just need to wait several seconds -- until the icon animation ends -- to restore all minimized windows.
