Bug Description

It would be nice to have calculations support in dash so along with searching files and applications, we can also do quick mathematical calculations in dash itself instead of opening calculator.

This functionality seems to lack any discoverability -- I have it installed and type "2 + 2" into the dash and only get results like Wikipedia links for various petrochemicals and pictures of Victorian steam locomotives.

It does lack discoverability (which is something to address more generally for scopes), but the calculator should work OOTB.

Stephen, after typing a calculation, do you see that process running ?
/usr/bin/python3 /usr/share/unity-scopes/scope-runner-dbus.py -s info/calculator.scope

It is very annoying to have to adjust constantly Unity lens filters - the Calculator filter is very often disabled.

I agree, the detection is weak.
Actually it works by typing 'calculator: 2*3', but not using just 2*3.

There are some cases which it works with expression alone, not sure why and how. It's not about the expression, trying the same expression another time, it doesn't work.

Here if I disable "include online search results" in "security&privacy-> search", directly input 2*3 won' t work. While if I enable that option, it work. It is insane that calculator seen as online result.

Instead of typing the cumbersome "calculator:" prefix, how about just making the scope listen for the speadsheet-like "=" syntax? E:g. "=2+2"

This seems to be because the Home lens doesn't search the "info" group of scopes by default, which include the calculator scope.

To enable follow the steps linked below and add 'info.scope' to the always-search list.

I have included both 'info.scope' and 'info-calculator.scope', but the automatic search still isn't enabled.
