With ubuntu-push-client 0.49 or greater (if you install it by hand make sure you restart the user-session job "ubuntu-push-client"), you can try presenting a notification by doing
gdbus call -e -d com.ubuntu.Postal -o /com/ubuntu/Postal/_ -m com.ubuntu.Postal.Post _ubuntu-system-settings '{"notification": {"vibrate": {"repeat": 3, "pattern": [50, 150]}, "card": {"persist": true, "body": "Tap to open the system updater.", "actions": ["settings:///system/system-update"], "timestamp": 1405727419, "popup": true, "summary": "Theres an updated system image.", "icon": "/usr/share/ubuntu/settings/system/icons/settings-system-update.svg"}, "emblem-counter": {"count": 1, "visible": true}}}' |
