Bug Description
Although one can start unity-mail from the gui, no way of exiting it is offered at present.
The menus of other indicator icons (dropbox, hplip, bluetooth manager) all offer a quit or exit option. It's good design principle to let the user easily undo an action.

Actually, there used to be a Quit menu item, but it was removed in order to keep the custom indicator consistent with the Messaging Indicator. In desktop environments that have a messaging indicator (Unity, MATE 17.04 and newer, Xfce, etc.), no messaging application can be exited through the menu.
Let's leave this open and on hold for now, and see if anyone else requires this feature. Keep in mind, adding a Quit menu item would only show up in environments that have no Messaging Indicator - in these cases Unity Mail creates its own standalone indicator which tries to look and behave like the one designed for messaging applications.
