Bug Description
Used unity-mail on my laptop and loved it. Tried to set it up on my new desktop and I'm having serious issues. Without any configuration, "um-url Home" will load my Gmail inbox. However, when I click on an email from the Messaging Menu dropdown, it won't load any anything and will only mark the email as read.
To post a comment you must log in.
There are multiple reasons for it:
- GMail doesn't provide any API to open the specific message. Unity Mail only knows Message-Id of the message, while GMail uses its own hashes.
- New Unity's Messaging Menu removes an item from itself when user clicks on it. In Unity Mail list of shown messages is (mostly) in sync with list of unread messages, so it marks a message as read when Messaging Menu removes it. (This "new" behavior appeared in Ubuntu Quantal, I think).
- Finally, there should be some option to easily mark a message as read when user doesn't need to read it. Placing this option into the Messaging Menu sounds like a good idea, so why not.
