Bug Description

I know "really slow" bugs aren't the most useful, but this is the best way I know to give this feedback, and I think it's important to give.

When I boot my computer (as I often do these days), the greeter prompts an account different to my own for a password. To change the account, I hit the down arrow. The animation when this happens is jerky. The password field takes maybe ten seconds to actually appear. The mouse pointer jerks around the screen instead of moving smoothly.

Instead, I would expect to not actually notice anything about performance, one way or the other.

Since this is often the first impression made by Ubuntu, I believe this is an important bug to fix.
