Bug Description

This is not the same as "#704028 [launcher] icon size wrong - should be 32x32". Launcher icons are looking OK but in my opinion they should be resizable, because the screen resolution for weaker computers for whom this is made for may be low.

This is already possible in Unity, btw. The size of the icons can be customized via a setting.

He has a branch on launchpad with it done. We'll start reviewing it shortly.

Interesting! I'd like to test it out. Is there a ppa?

Concur that this seems like an obviously missing feature that is below par wrt Apple's launcher. Maximizing screen real estate is a normal & reasonable objective. Being able to change it with setting configurations is fine for Debian, but misses the point of Ubuntu. There are plenty of environments (e.g. VM's) where it might make sense to use Unity 2D and still expect this feature.
