Bug Description

It happens randomly and to make the global menu re-appear I have to activate and deactivate the dash one time.

I recently found that the problem must be connected with the focus on the window. I mean, when I press Alt-Tab the disappeared menu re-appears, just as like the focus before that was on another window.

Thanks for the report harrier. Do you have a reliable way to reproduce the issue? That would be very helpful to nail down the issue and fix it.

I am sorry, I can not reproduce the issue. I am trying to understand when it happens, but at now I haven't found yet a regularity in this issue.

I recently found the issue happengin in Unity3d also. Maybe it is not a problem of Unity2d code. To reactivate the Libreoffice global menu I had to close the window and relaunch Libreoffice.

I'm able to reproduce this issue (even if I don't know if the problem is related or not to Unity 2D). Install 'lo-menubar'. Open LibreOffice Writer: nothing appears in the top panel (screenshot attached). Change the focus on another window or show the dash, and then change the focus to LibreOffice: the global menu appears as expected. I have noticed no problems in Firefox. Also I noticed that the problem appears "randomly", that is, the first time I open LibreOffice after logging in I see the problem almost always, but If I do it again, it may or not appear.

I figured out the issue is 100% reproducible if you open an .odt which contains some java macros and if your security level is not set at the minimum :

in this case, a popup window appears asking whether you want to use the macros (or to warn you that macros are disabled) and consequently, the global menu is not visible (if the window is set to fullscreen, you can't even quit from fullscreen !)

If macros are disabled, the issue doesn't occur. (so I set a whitelist not to be bothered)

JC, maybe it's just small screen? Have you tried to reach it with arrows?

See bug 885835 about some more input on the firefox issue - it's definitely unrelated to screen size.

Those are two unrelated issues. The libreoffice related one is handled on bug #842566
