Sorry, but it seems like the bug is not completely fixed yet.
I created an USB-Stick with Ubuntu ISO file on a Mac with OS X 10.9.5 using UNetbootin 647 from 2017-05-01
I can't boot from it on a PC machine (can select the USB as start device but then it shows only a blinking cursor on a black screen).

A working method is to use dd to copy the .iso file to USB drive.
