[Mac OS X] name of USB-stick

On Mac OS X the USB-Stick is called for example /dev/disk1s1 although this anme can't be recognized anywhere in this (shitty) operating system. Would be cool if (additional) the name/label of the USB stick(for instance: "mabduls stick") could be displayed (on Windows the situation is better since drive letters are realy common, but would also sometimes help with many partitions/hdds)

It has probably come up at /dev/sdb1 or /dev/sdc1, depending if you have any other hard drives on your system.

And quit with the narky attitude, if you want proper answers at least have some respect and use more appropriate dialogue.

This is a Mac OS X issue. The problem is if I have more than one USB-stick plugged in, I am not able to differentiate in the GUI which of these USB-sticks I have to (or want to) choose since these are "cryptic" names never used anywhere on the operating system. You're right and I know which stick to chose if I only plug one in but that is not always a solution because the last time I used UNetBootin from the first stick and wanted to put the live system on the other one.

If the description gets additional or changed "the name of the stick" (for example: "mabduls stick" or "SanDisk 4GB", etc), I would know where to install the live system.

As I wrote: on Windows the situation is similar but not problematic since drive-letters are quite common.

Good point, I suppose a name like "/dev/disk1s1" doesn't mean much to the average computer user. I'll try to fix this when I get around to it (probably sometime next month).

This is not a Mac OS X issue. On any *nix (I'm using Mint right now), the /dev paths of the drives are not helpful:
* /dev/sdbc1
* /dev/sdc

It should be pretty simple to display the volume label or mount point alongside.

Any chance to update the title of this ticket?
