Bug Description

I used UNetbootin to install Arch Linux. Choosing the more recent 2008 iso from the list causes a major error during the installation. This is because of a now obsolete file used in that version of the iso (packages.txt) which the setup depends on for the install to complete.

Please update the version in UNetbootin so others can avoid this.

Relating to this bug again, I downloaded the (latest) 2008.06 from ArchLinux.org directly and used as a custom iso source.

During the UNetbootin install process, there was an error saying the "grub files already existed" (or words to that effect) -- I chose "yes to all" to overwrite these files.

Rebooting left my PC in an un-bootable state with a GRUB error 17 (missing boot files).

I've also been hit by this bug. I use Unetbootin 356-0gezakovacs~intreped1 on Ubuntu 8.10.

I can choose between arch linux 2007.08-2 and 2008.03-1. I've tried 2008.03-1. This deliveres a bootable memory stick, and the installer works until the point that I had to select the packages to install. There the installer can find packages.txt.

On the arch wiki I found this problem can be avoided by using the latest version of arch linux.

please update the version of arch linux in Unetbootin.
Please add the notion that 2007.08-2 and 2008.03-1 are obsolete.

Best regards,
Cedric

This should really be updated. The current provided Arch is 3 years old and pretty much unusable.

The Arch Linux download link has been updated to that for 2010.05 (it now always downloads the latest one available on the mirrors), and the program now correctly adjusts the "archisolabel=..." parameter to reflect the USB drive that was installed to, or adds a label to the USB drive if not present.

Changed in unetbootin:
