Bug Description
When the file broswer opens to look for an iso, can it simply be given read only rights?
Write access to the system with root access and opening as root user at the /root folder is quite dangerous. A tiny slip of the trackpad while trying to go from can give damaging results, as one can easily drag a folder into another one by accident.
I dragged and dropped my /home folder from my / folder into my /etc folder, which left me with a unusable system.
I know unetbootin needs root access to mount and unmount systems, but if one can open the file browser with read-only access, it would be safer.

This was fixed a while ago. Ubuntu has an outdated version in its repos. See https:/ /bugs.launchpad .net/ubuntu/ +source/ unetbootin/ +bug/1438236 and https:/ /github. com/unetbootin/ unetbootin/ issues/ 22
