Input/output errors during install from the USB image

Bug Description
I tried to use UNetbootin USB to install Linux Mint 15 (64bit) and Ubuntu 13.04 (64 bit), and both failed with the same message, see attachment.
I wonder where IO errors come from. USB disks were different, HD on laptop was the same, but I checked it after those failures and theer are no errros. Extended SMART test passed without any issues.
Same ISO for Linux Mint 15, when burned to DVD, works fine on the same laptop.
