"min" should be translatable

The "min" word should be translatable at the arrive ETA on the bottom of the screen. For exampe "min" in Irish is "nóiméad".

As min is not a word, but a symbol, it is not translatable.

I have never heard about this. But I know we don't use this. As I see the translation of minute is very similar for many languages (for instance Spanish), so the "min" is okay. But for languages with other word, it is acceptable. Anyone think the same?

That's the International System of Units that is accepted in Science, at least in Europe. :-)

But this is not science or it's not related to science :) We don't use "min" for minutes in our country, and I have been never seen any app with this on any system.

@Robin: "min" is as symbol, not as word.

For example, "520 cm" shouldn't be translated either.
'cm' would be "centímetros" in Spanish or "centimeters" in English,
but as symbol, in Spanish is 'cm' too.

Translate "minutes" in all languages could compromise the app layout
too (because of long strings).

I agree with @costales.

It is the same for the numbers: "two“ is "dos" in Spanish and “deux" in French, but its symbol is "2" in the three languages."

But we (Hungarians) don't use the „min” as a symbol too. We use „perc” for minute and „p” for min. Which is shorter than the „min”. :P :D

In English some people use "sec" instead of "s" for "second" and in Spanish some people use "seg" instead of "s" for "segundo". Both "sec" and "seg" are abbreviations of the words and not the symbols.

I think that if does exist a standard symbol for it we have to use it. The same for "min" instead of "p“.
