Bug Description

Hey, everyone. As the release of Andromeda comes nearer and nearer, we would like some advertising materials made. Could someone make promotional posters or something. Posters should fit on a US regular 8.5" x 11" sheet of paper.

Would love to make something but i am not sure how much further i can stretch my time table. I might just throw up some ideas that could be further developed later to start with.

How soon would we need this?

WE would need this before the 0.1.1 release.

In a few weeks, we'd need this. I think we could use the phrase "sometimes there is no such thing as unity", and do a few different color schemes with the different colored UGR saturn logos (blue, brown, gray, etc)

'Sometimes there is no such thing as unity'? That's a rather disconcerting phrase. How about 'Lightyears ahead'? or 'A galaxy of change'?

Did a quick sketch up... but my computer barely holds up working on such large images. Also Gimp are not very good for this type of tasks. What are the closest to Quark Express on Linux?

What about "From here and beyond, UGR" as a catch phrase?

You could try Scribus and KWord. I like the catch phrase. Also the rocket looks a tad weird. Could you do it like the Space Shuttle or Russia's Buran?

I'm not good at all at graphics, but the shuttle looks to me like a middle
finger, so probably it is what looks like to anyone that sees it the first
time ;)

Yeah, I agree with Davide. The rocket should look more like this one. http://fedoraproject.org/w/uploads/thumb/4/4d/Rocket_001.png/800px-Rocket_001.png

@Chris: I could give it a try.. i am not sure i got talent enough though. It is one thing to just put some lines up and a completely other to make some thing look as in the real world. I will give Scribus a try.. but thought that was for writing. Anyway... hope to get something better together soon ;)

@Chris: That second rocket was little what i was aiming for. I made the sketch just to show the elements and how i was generally thinking. Thanks for the feed back ;)

Can you change the catch phrase to 'onward and upward'? and change the font that says ugr to the Ubuntu font?

New ideas for marketing - it centers around all of the crappiness that windows has, yet people still pay hundreds of dollars for it
Don't pay for blue screens
Don't pay for crashes
Don't pay for 50,000 viruses

Once this is done, we need to use some viral marketing and such. have we decided on a name that can fit the space theme?

With the viral campaign, we should have different ideas. one could play up the no viruses, another the freeness, yet another could show that we have games (I love minecraft)
