Sending wrong or no content-type

I transferred a number of jpeg files from my ubuntu phone to FTPs on my RiscPC. On the RiscPC the files were typed as Text so I had to change them to JPEG. This means that uFTP was not sending the correct content-type information to the target machine. NB on RISC OS the file name (and extension) is entirely separate from the file type.
I do not normally have any problem transferring files via FTP from other machines to the RiscPC.
