This also affects the case when you want to Open an encrypted disk/usb that was LUKS encrypted on another Linux system (Debian/Ubuntu).
It cannot Open it - Mount it, returning a similar error.

The function 'bd_crypto_luks_open_blob' called, but not implemented! (udisks-error-quark,0)

This only affects the GUI version. You can format or mount a LUKS disk/usb from the command line.

Same problem here! Any workarounds?

Time to go fscrypt instead?

I have an installation of Xenial (16.04 LTS) which doesn't have this bug (gnome-disk-utility version 3.18). After upgrading to 18.04 (gnome disk version 3.28) I start seeing this bug. It's not a showstopper as I know my way through the command line, but still, I spend 60% of my time on macOS and having a common task such as LUKS + ext4 done through a graphical interface is much appreciated

does it work if you install libblockdev-crypto2 ?

Hi Sebastien, just gave that a try and it didn't help for me. Thank you

Hi Sebastien, yeah actually I did it right after reporting this bug. Installing libblockdev-crypto2 and restarting udisks2 service made it work!

Do you think we should categorize this under udisks2?

I can confirm what Sebastien proposed. Installing libblockdev-crypto2 and restarting the udisks2.service did the trick.
Also it maybe worth mention that in my case the installation of Ubuntu 18.04(beta2) performed with the new "minimal installation" option.

udisks2 2.7.6-2ubuntu6 "suggests" libblockdev-crypto2;

that needs to be set to "recommends" at least.

It's being made a recommend but that was blocked on some MIRs to be reviewed/accepted

I can confirm that this fix works on Ubuntu 20.04. To reiterate:

sudo apt install libblockdev-crypto2
sudo service udisks2 restart
