Bug Description

I've installed lucid lynx in my notebook HP DV9285 and everything works, but time to time the quickbuttons like volume keys and song next, previous song, stop working. Doesnt appear no error alerting that something stoped working, just stop working...

when the keys are working pressing the key it returns a sound, and when this happens no sound...it is like the quickbuttons aren't recognized...

how can i debug this?

This is probably a udev issue, not a xkeyboard-config issue.

Normally you edit the relevant files in /lib/udev/keymaps/hewlett-packard* and you specify what key is which.
When these key work sometimes and other times they don't, then it's strange.
You can get debug information from /var/log/Xorg.0.log and ~/.xsession-errors which you can post here.
See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Hotkeys/Troubleshooting for more on configuring the hotkeys.
These issues would normally be reported to bugzilla.kernel.org, under the udev package.

I'll mark the xkeyboard-config part of this report as 'Invalid'.

Changed in xkeyboard-config (Ubuntu):
status: New → Invalid

Hi there,

i'll try debuging and i'll post here...

yet, i noticied that when this happens i cannot turn off the computer when shuting down. If i click shutdown or halt the computer turns off the screen but continues to work and i have to press the power button...

if the keys are working i can turn off the computer when shuting down....

Helder,
Another angle to test is to check whether the DSDT tables of your laptop are OK.
That is,
1. first check if there are any firmware updates for the BIOS of your laptop. If so, please apply them.
2. check if the problem is fixed
3. If not, follow the instructions at http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1036051
to extract the DSDT tables (from BIOS) and try to see if there are any errors when compiling the file.
Don't apply changes as it is quite a technical task; just get a feel of how good the DSDT tables are.
