udd service needs to be monitor-able

We need a reliable way (that we can turn into a nagios check) of determining that the udd service is performing as expected. This would be run locally on the machine that the service runs on and can be as flexible as you like. We can write the nagios check, you just need to let us know what to check for and what constitutes success/failure.

Hi Tom,

Would you prefer one check that covers everything, or a series of
checks?
