Bug Description

https://lists.ubuntu.com/archives/ubuntu-distributed-devel/2010-November/000639.html

The UDD importer will include the .pc directory under version control when it imports a quilt3 branch. Because it is problematic to handle this correctly (e.g. merge conflicts), the .pc directory should be ignored when importing a branch. By including it we basically have conflicting version control systems.

I'd like James to discuss this. ISTR that there was a reason he stores it as part of the conversion. However, it does seem like the better flow would be to have people create .pc when they actually wanted it, since it is duplicate information from the rest of the tree.

How would one go about unapplying patches that didn't apply cleanly if the .pc directory has been deleted?

Does this mean source shouldn't have the patches already applied?

@Marc: yes, I think that is correct. Namely, the source should not have the patches already applied... for now. However, when/if we have good quilt<->loom autoconversion, then those patches should be applied in separate, higher threads.

Jelmer just posted this link, which also proposes that the .pc directory be ignored in the vcs:
