Got the same error!

running Kubuntu KK 9.10 with UCK 2.0.12

I tried with Kubuntu KK 9.10 iso 32 and 64 bit but both give me same error.

Any news?

Thanks!

are you using ubuntu livecd to generate the new iso?
which ubuntu version is the host system?
which ubuntu version is the ISO you're movifying?

*bump*

Precisely the same error indication as described by OP using Kubuntu 9.10 (64-bit) as both host and to generate the iso (from a LiveCD), and using UCK 2.0.12.

Further, when UCK fails the build and I cancel it, the tmp directory is left in my home directory and remains mounted (filling up the wastebasket quite quickly and requiring a manual umount and /bin/rm -fr to get rid of it).

Just installed Kubuntu Karmic in a virtual machine to test - with the following results:

- Kubuntu 9.10 (Karmic) seems to not have a package manager that is usable by UCK installed by default - neither adept, nor adept-manager, nor synaptic are found. This confirms your error report.

- If you want to run interactive packaging to customize Kubuntu Karmic you will need to install a usable package manager *IN THE SYSTEM BEING CUSTOMIZED*. The way to do this is to select "Run console application" when you get to the dialog prompting you to choose a customization action. Within the console opened run "apt-get install synaptic". (Having synaptic or another package manager in the *hosting* system does not work - it will not be found there, because at this point the customization happens in a chrooted environment, relying etirely on the commands available in the system being customized.)

- I've not been able to find "adept" or "adept_manager" (which used to be the KDE package managers of choice before KDE4 came along). If you happen to know how to run the KDE4 packaging GUI from the commad line a hint would be helpful.

On the (unrelated) issue of tmp not being cleaned up properly: This error has been fixed in SVN and the fix will be contained in the next release of UCK.

I get the same exact error. I tried option 1 and 2. Nothing works.

I run Ubuntu 64bit 10.04.1. I'm trying to customize the 10.04.1 Ubuntu Mini Remix

Why would this not work? What will I need to do? I'm NOT running the host live Ubuntu. I'm running the Ubuntu from my system to make the new ISO. Suggestions?

You cannot run a GUI package manager because Ubuntu Mini-Remix only has apt (command line).

You cannot run a terminal from uck-gui because the Mini-Remix does not have X11.

When customizing the Mini-Remix your only choices are
(a) run the command line interfaces of UCK, or
(b) try your luck with uck-flow from the unstable PPA.
