Can't Run console application

ubuntu 8.04.2, 8.10, and 9.04 rc
UCK 2.0.8 and 2.0.9

There's nothing I did. I just ran uck-gui. After some selection, I chose "Run Console Application".
Then an error appeared. "Running console application /usr/bin/gnome-terminal failed, error=1"

This is a known bug of gnome-terminal? The console output says this:

Failed to contact the GConf daemon; exiting.

So gnome-terminal needs the gconf deamon running, right? I don't think it's possible to run the gconf daemon within uck, maybe we could run a more simple terminal/console that doesn't have such a dependency?

also if it's a non-uck bug i released a workaround, if the native terminal fails we call the xterm fallback

Hello Fabrizio, thank you for the workaround, it helped. Thanks to this, I was able to survive here. Hint for those looking for an alternative terminal: you may use 'apt-get install konsole' and start konsole from the xterm ...Rgds, Dani
