Bug Description

Most the suggestions for starting/testing the Ubuntu TV demo code involves command-line poking.

Probably the easiest way and cleanest way would be to added a dedicated session when the ubuntutv packages are installed; eg to:

  /usr/share/xsessions/ubuntutv.desktop

This would allow a user to logout and login a dedicated Ubuntu TV session.

Sort of like this:

[Desktop Entry]
Name=Ubuntu TV
Comment=This session launches Ubuntu TV
Exec=gnome-session --session=ubuntu-2d
TryExec=unity-2d-shell
Icon=
Type=Application

Needs to be fixed, IMHO, to get this properly to work.

Ross: as well as launching 'unity-2d', it has to have the correct personality selected. Eduard: perhaps you could start with Ross' .desktop file and try to work it up into a functioning+tested patch?
