audio cd not recognized nor detected in ubuntustudio 8.04

i was also told that others running 8.10 had this problem. When i insert an audio cd into ubuntustudio 8.04 it doesn't show up as an icon on my desktop, nor does it show up under Places->..Audio Cd...(error..-> Could not open location 'cdda://scd0/'..There was an error launching the default action command associated with this location.) Nor could i open it with a music application such as Audacious. This is really disappointing as i desperately need to have this capability on my system.. i'm thinking about down grading to 7.10 until this issue can be resolved.

It not showing on the desktop is by design. But because this has gon so long without additional info I'm closing this.
