Bug Description

Platform: Windows 7 x64 SP1

Installer: ubuntuone-2.0.3-windows-installer.exe

Expected Behaviour: Install Ubuntu One client

Problem: Ubuntu one client hangs indefinitely at "Installing C++ runtime" with no error messages or entries in Event Viewer. My PC is behind a proxy that is set at system and environment variable level (for git).

There is no useful feedback, program was left in its hanging state for 5 hours today with no change.

Hi Peter,

Do you have any logs in AppData\Local\xdg\cache\ubuntuone\log ? If so, could you please attach them to this report?

The proxy is not yet supported on that version you are installing. That might be part of the problem. Soon we will release a new version for windows with proxy support.

Thanks a lot for your report.

Hi,

I encountered the same problem. In C:\Users\(USERNAME)\AppData\Local (note that the "AppData"directory is hidden), there was no "xdg" directory. After quite a long while (I'd estimate 10 minutes), the installer successfully finished the install. And it then left a "xdg" subdirectory behind.

The only log entry was "(TIMESTAMP) - ubuntuone.installer.qt.utils - INFO - Got empty credentials, starting wizard app."

Ubuntu One is running fine now. Still, the frozen (at least temporarily) installer might confuse others.

@Peter, does your problem persist?

Hi,

This issue is on my work PC, so I cannot check logs or proceed further until tomorrow. I'll update as soon as I can.

Thanks.

installer.log mentions missing credentials, I assume this is related to downloading the c++ runtime, since I haven't been prompted to enter my Ubuntu One credentials yet.

credentials.log first entry is 'credentials_not_found' so I assume this relates directly.

there is a python exception in syncdaemon.log, here's the syncdaemon-exceptions.log file.

I've just noticed the dates on those log files... they're from a previous install in January. I've cleared that xdg folder and am re-running the installer to see if up-to-date log files are generated.

We have made it so the runtime is installed differently in the next version.
